Internet Marketing - Things I am learning

Ok...so I have not been Internet Marketing for very long, almost a year, but I learn new things on a daily basis.....

Here I am wasting hours of time submitting my sites to hundreds of search engines....ok, it might help a little, but not enough to waste all that time...I actually paid a service to submit one site of mine into 300 search engines (which about half of them I was already in), and I still haven't seen ANY results.....so I consulted with a pretty darn good Internet Marketer I know, who knows all the Internet Marketing greats...or at least several of them on a personal basis....

He said that basically if you have your sites submitted to "the big important search engines, like Google" all of the good search engines that matter will eventually crawl your site as well....which makes sense...

So I am no longer going to spend hours submitting my sites when the spiders will find them(the ones that matter anyhow!)

Tricks For Finding The Right Keywords

Tricks For Finding The Right Keywords by Jeff Alderson

Coming up with ideas for the best keywords to use on a website can be a difficult process for many to grasp. If a little common sense comes into play and some basic rules of the road are followed, the effort doesn't have to be insurmountable.

Researching keywords prior to creating a lot of content for a website is an absolute must if optimization is desired though. Although it's possible to insert keywords after the fact, it can be a royal pain in the neck that results in stilted copy.

As you go about the process of picking the right keywords, there are several things to consider. The first thing to remember is that different people use search engines in different ways. The key here is to consider the many ways of saying the same thing. How a person searches can be impacted by gender, age, country of origin, profession and so on. What terms come to mind for the exact same product or service can vary greatly depending on the person in question.

When looking at keywords, remember they do need to relate to your individual site. Pulling people in with keywords that are not relevant is dishonest and it also results in "unqualified" hits. If you're selling something or you happen to have ads on your site, you really need to pull in visitors that are interested in your topic. Should you keyword load with irrelevant terms, you'll turn visitors off, could lose sales and might even lose ads.

As you start the process, the first thing to do is pick up a pen and piece of paper. Brainstorm every word and phrase you can conjure that web surfers might use to visit pages that relate to your topic. Ask others for their ideas, too, especially if friends, family or co-workers happen to fall into your target demographics.

With a keyword list ready to go, it's wise to now visit the Internet to refine it. You can use search engine databases to see what words others use to find sites similar to yours. Overture and Google both have keyword tools, and software like Ad Word Analyzer can save you a ton of time on keyword research. All of these tools can assist you in seeing how many similar sites come up on searches when your keywords and phrases are plugged in.

With this done, employ a little common sense to the revised list. Consider your desired audience and think about the terms they would really use to find your site. Keep in mind that conversational language is much more likely than marketing terminology in searches. Think basic, short phrases that sum up what you do or offer. Focus in on these terms.

Even with a well-researched list, it is important to remember optimization is an ongoing process. It is very likely you'll revise your keywords from time to time. Don't fret if it doesn't go right the first time out.

With a tentative list in hand, it's time to create copy that's relevant, keyword rich and actually useful. Steer clear of keyword stuffing and only use as much content as is necessary. Make sure keywords appear in headlines, but don't worry about going overboard with them on every single line. Copy that's clear, concise and relevant tends to pull in more traffic.

Coming up with the right keywords to optimize a site can be a tough undertaking. View it as an ongoing process and don't be afraid to tweak the effort as you go.

Internet Marketing Classes and Certified Exams

Internet Marketing Classes and Certified Exams by Carsten Cumbrowski

At the early days of search was SEO and pay per click advertising something for geeks who learned the stuff by experimenting with it and learned from their successes and failures while simply doing it. How to rank in search engines and how to write a compelling Ad within three short lines and research keywords is not exactly the things that are taught at the universities. There were no bachelors or masters' degree in search marketing or something like that.

Hireling somebody with experience and proven knowledge about search to do your in-house search marketing was impossible. There was no way of telling if the person actually knew the business or not at all. You had to trust their word and then, down the road, check if they delivered on their promises or not.

Forming and molding new graduates from the college to search marketers in-house by letting them play around with the subject matter (for a low cost) for a while and eventually grow them to experts internally, was in most cases the best choice. The former graduates and newbie's became experienced marketers with the time and made it hard for companies to be able to keep them. They learned quickly what their work and experience was worth. Those People did often quit their job at the company where they learned the business to work for a specialized search-marketing firm or to start their own business.

Independent training and certification did not exist.

Changing Landscape

The landscape regarding education and certification changed dramatically since the middle of 2006. Before 2006 did virtually no or only a few training curriculums to internet marketing, especially to the fast growing subject of search engine marketing and optimization exist, at least none, which resulted in an industry wide accepted form of certification that could be used by the students who successfully completed the training to use with confidence for a job application.

Combined industry efforts and the shortage of skilled internet marketing professionals created a boom in new services, which offer new training courses and seminars including certification to various internet-marketing subjects. Not all certifications are accepted or acknowledged across the industry, but most of them offer at least a similar level of education, which makes 3rd party certifications almost in all cases just as good as an "official" one.

Broad Selection of Services

The offers vary in price, amount of transferred knowledge and distribution method. Self-learning courses in printed and electronic format online are as available as hands on training classes in real classrooms with real teachers and interaction with other students. In addition, the combination of virtual training online combined with interaction with real teachers and other students is in some cases an option.

Companies can now send their employees who might have a major in marketing and advertising or computer engineering to a paid training and know when they come back and passed the exam and got their certification that they do know at least the basics of the job they are supposed to do.

Graduates Are in High Demand

The demand for graduates from the new available colleges, training programs and online classes is high and successful alumni in subjects like SEM/PPC or SEO can often choose from more than one job offer available to them. Classes are usually very affordable ranging between a few hundred to a few thousand dollars.

Finding Job Openings

If you are looking for a job in the search marketing industry, or if you are a personnel manager and looking for SEM professionals to hire, you might want to have a look at the niche job search site JobsInSearch.com, which specializes in search engine optimization (SEO) and marketing jobs and careers. There are also the large and generic career opportunities portals and sites where you can look for job openings in search engine optimization, pay-per-click and internet marketing in general.

Conclusion

Times are certainly changing and the realm of the one-geek shows is slowly ending. The industry matures at last.

Carsten Cumbrowski is an internet marketer for over six years. He made some of his experience available at his internet marketing resources site at Cumbrowski.com. You can find there additional information to the subject of training and certification in internet marketing.

Building An Email List Of 1 Million Subscribers by Willie Crawford

Back in December 2002, I attended my very first Internet marketing seminar. That seminar was sponsored by Dr. Bob Silber, and I attended because Dr. Silber invited me to be a speaker. Rumors had spread of how well I was doing in "Internet marketing" with a lead product of "a soul food cookbook" - of all things.

My presentation was on niche marketing, and was very well-received. That seminar also opened my eyes to how willing other marketers are to share their experience and knowledge with you... if you let them.

At that seminar Jonathan Mizel, Frank Garon, Fred Gleeck, Armand Morin, Marty Foley, Ramon Williamson, Bob Silber, and several others gave me so many ideas that I though my head would explode. Many of the tips that they gave me are still very applicable today, and add substantially to my bottom-line. One tip pertaining to having the perfect backend in place will make me a small fortune this year.

When I first released my cookbook, I struggled with the perfect backend product for cookbook buyers. Now, I know that the perfect backend product is… other cookbooks! So, the backend system for that website that I shared back in 2003 is now an endless procession of incredible cookbooks. The latest one that I've added to my line-up is a cookbook by the private cook of the late Alex Haley. This guy is such a great cook that Alex insisted he do the cooking when he had such distinguished guest over as Oprah Winfrey, Sidney Poitier, Governor Lamar Alexander, and countless other politicians, celebrities, and friends.

That ONE tip, picked up at my first seminar, lead me to eventually adding Dave Frank's "Foods Of The Southland" cookbook to my line-up, and I hope to move hundreds of thousands of copies of that cookbook eventually. Incidentally, you can grab a copy of that cookbook today at: http://Chitterlings.com/southland/

After that first seminar was over, I sat around in the hotel lobby talking to fellow speaker Ramon Williamson, who would eventually become a mentor. As Ramon and I talked, one of the seminar attendees, whom I didn't know, walked up to us. Ramon recognized this guest and invited both of us up to his suite for a late-night brainstorming session.

That guest was John Reese, whose marketing genius I would really grow to appreciate. John Reese, you may remember really sprang on the scene when his "Traffic Secrets" course sold over $1 million worth of product in 18 hours.

Ramon, John and I talked until 4am. They did most of the talking as I sat in awe at their LEVEL of thinking. John mentioned that one of his long-term goals was to build a mailing list of over 1 million subscribers. I couldn't see that as even being possible!

John explained that when you're having trouble paying your rent, it's difficult to imagine earning $100,000 per year. However, to the person making $100k, it's easy to "see" making $200k. To the person making $500k, it's easy to imagine $1 million. As I reflected upon the truth in what John was saying I underwent a radical shift in my thinking right there... that night... in that hotel room.

That was December 2002. By April 2003 I was in the midst of hosting my very own Internet marketing seminar. That was four months from attending my very first, to hosting a live seminar!

I detail a lot of the transformation that occurred in my thinking and in my habits in my biography, "Git Off The Porch." I wrote that book in response to a challenge issued by Ramon. The challenge was to go from idea to a print book in three months or less. I did it, and you'll find that book at: http://gitofftheporch.com/

Today, I sit writing this article... on the beach in beautiful Navarre, Florida. I often go to the beach and sit in a shaded pavilion and work. I can do that since all I really need is my trusty laptop, and my Verizon Wireless Card. With that card plugged into my laptop, I can actually surf the internet or answer email from anywhere that I'm within range of a cell phone tower. I've even done it while driving down the interstate... my wife was actually driving. To me, that proves that so many things that many people consider only "dreams" are possible!

As I write and reflect upon the possibilities, I thought I'd share with you one of my goals. That goal is the same one that John Reese shared back in December 2002. I have a plan for building an email database of over 1 million subscribers. I'm doing it in phases, and will actually have several niche lists or sub-lists. When broken down as I have it mapped out, it's no longer such a major challenge!

My short-term goal is to add 100,000 new subscribers to my list by December 31st, 2007. Actually that's 100,000 new subscribers more than I would get from what I was doing before I implemented my master plan.

Building this relatively large list will involve using a number of techniques... some very simple, and others somewhat innovative. One of the simplest ones I've actually already shared with the world in a special report that I wrote called, "How I Boosted My Ezine Sign-Up Rate By 5200 MORE Subscribers Per Month - Virtually Overnight - And You Can Too!"

That short special report is at: http://www.therealsecrets.com/5200/

The reason that I can, and will, build a list of over 1 million subscribers is largely because I give myself permission to do so. The transformation in thinking brought on by the conversation with John and Ramon back in 2002 now allows me to see that anything is possible. Knowing that it is possible ends the procrastination in getting started on a task. Knowing what is possible if you just put in the proper effort also completely cures you of "excusitis."

You may even wonder if a goal of 1 million subscribers is worth pursuing. In the niches that I operate in, I earn an average of between $1 and $3 per month for every subscriber on my lists. So, for me, YES, it's a very worthwhile goal :-)

NO - money isn't everything, but it does enable you to accomplish many bigger goals. My ultimate goals actually center around helping more people reach their dreams, but that's a topic for another time. I'll close by issuing a challenge. Identify one of your goals today, and use your magnificently powerful brain to figure out HOW to reach it! It doesn't have to be building a huge list. However, many of the people that I deal with regularly use the excuse of, "I have no list" as a reason for not being able to grow their businesses faster. Many of them have been using that same excuse for 3-5 years. I contend that it's time that they stop!

What do you think?

Must Know Article Marketing Tips!

Submitted by: Daniel

The importance of articles in todays websites and internet based companies are immeasurable. They dictate a lot in the success and the drive of traffic into one's site. It has become a key element in making a site work and earns a profit. A website operator and owner must have the good sense to include articles in his or her site that will work for them and earn them the many benefits articles can give to their site.

Articles have been known to be the driving force in driving traffic to a website. Articles are a factor in giving site high rankings in search result pages. The higher a site ranks the bigger slice of the traffic flow pie he gets. With a huge number in traffic flow, there are more profits and more potential for other income generating schemes as well.

But, it is not just about stuffing your site with articles; they have certain requirements as well. These requirements must be met to obtain the maximum benefits an article will provide for your site. A well written article will catch the eyes and interest of your customers and keep them coming back for more. They would also be able to recommend your site to others.

Here are some tips to help you and assist you in making your articles. Below you will read about four things all articles must have to make it successful and helpful in making your site a profit earning and traffic overflowing site.

Keywords and Keyword Phrases.

An article must always be centered on the keywords and keyword phrases. As each website visitor goes to a site, there are those who are just merely browsing but actually looking for a specific something. When this happens, a searcher usually goes to a search engine and types in the keywords they are looking for (e.g. Toyota Camry, Meningitis, Tax Lawyer and Etcetera). It could be anything they want.

The Important thing is that you have an article that has the keywords that are related to your site. For example, if you maintain an auto parts site, you must be able t have articles about cars and their parts. There are many tools in the internet that provides service in helping a webmaster out in determining what keywords and keyword phrases are mostly sought out. You can use this tool to determine what keywords to use and write about.

Keyword Density

Know that you have your keywords and keyword phrases, you must use them fully. An article must have good keyword density for a search engine to feel its presence. Articles should at least have ten to fifteen percent of keyword density in their content for search engines to rank a site high in their search results. Getting a high rank is what articles do best for a site.

Keyword density is the number of times a keyword or keyword phrase is used on an article. The number varies depending on the number of words used in an article. An effective article must have a keyword density that is not too high or too low. With a very high density, the essence of the article is lost and may turn off a reader as well as the search engines. It comes off as overeager. A low number may be ignored by the search engines.

Good Article Content

Like what is stated above, you cannot just riddle an article with keywords. They must also be regarded as good reading materials. Articles must be able to entertain people as well as provide good information and help for their needs. Articles should be written well with correct spelling and good grammar. If you want people to trust you, make your work good and well thought out.

People respond well to figures, facts and statistics. Try to get great information and as many facts as you can. A good and well written article will boost your reputation as an expert in your chosen field or topic. As more people believe in you. They will be able to trust you and your products.

Linking Articles

And another important thing to remember. If you are going to submit articles to ezines and/or contribute your articles to newsletters and other sites, don't ever forget to include a link to your site. A little resource box with a brief description of your site and you should always be placed right after your articles that you have submitted. If people like your articles, they will most likely click on the link directing them to your site.

Article Marketing On Steroids

Submitted by: Saleem

If you've been dabbling in internet marketing for a good period of time now, then you know how important article marketing can be for your online campaigns. Article marketing can provide you with a lot of back links that could help build your link popularity so that you may secure a good position in the search engine results pages (SERPs). Additionally, since you will be submitting your articles to article directories, it would critical to know that some of these directories have high page ranks. Having your link appear in the pages of websites with high PR would only contribute a substantial boost to your own website's page rank.

It is critical, therefore, to learn about the subtleties involved with article marketing so that you will be able to optimize your usage of this technique.

Now, you have most probably read about article marketing before, in numerous resources at that. This article isn't about an introduction to article marketing. This article assumes that you already know the basics. In the following paragraphs, we will focus on the things that people do not know about the aforementioned strategy, as well as some tips to help you out when it comes to making the most out of this tactic.

Let's proceed.

1. Though it is tempting to submit two or more articles to the article directories in the World Wide Web, it is strongly recommended that you try to avoid doing the same in rapid succession. The search engines, and Google in particular, are quite sensitive about abnormal increases in a website's link popularity. By submitting many articles at the same time, you could potentially gain 3,000 or so back links for your website. In theory, this is excellent. But since this will be accomplished quite fast, the search engines might categorize it as an abnormal increase, and they may momentarily de-index your website pending further study into the matter. You wouldn't want this to happen. So you better play it safe. Try to submit articles every two weeks or so to avoid this danger.

2. It isn't wise to submit an article that is already included in your own website. As a policy against dupe content, search engines would consider the higher ranking website as the originator of the article. Hence, your website, having a lower rank, might be designated as harboring duplicate content. This will not bid well for your page rank.

3. Whenever you're writing articles, remember that most article directories would allow you to use hyperlinks. The trick is in hyperlinking your website to what we call as anchor texts. These anchor texts should pertain to the keywords you are targeting. Doing this would give a significant boost to your chances of getting a better position in the SERPs. For example, if the keyword you're targeting is 'mesothelioma,' make sure that you will hyperlink your website to every mention of the term in your article.

4. Do not submit PLR articles as they are. Though PLR articles are great options for affordable content, they are not really meant for article marketing purposes. Duplicate articles submitted to the directories would just be rejected, or worse, can lead to the banning of your account. Instead, try to use the PLR articles as bases for the articles you will write for these directories. The information is already in these PLR articles, after all, hence you won't need to spend time doing some necessary research. Write one, original article from the ground up, using your PLR articles as the foundation, and submit the same to the directories.

5. Remember, people will be reading your articles. These are highly targeted folks. They will read your article because they are looking for information relevant to the subject of your work. If you could provide this information clearly, succinctly, and efficiently, they'll regard you as an expert on the matter and they will grow to trust whatever you will put out. Hence, it is important to submit the best quality article you could come up with, as your online business' credibility is on the line.

Article Directory - How to Use An Article Directory to Boost Your Income

Submitted by: Richard

All is well and you have a profitable online business selling marshmallows.

One fine morning you find that your customer base has eroded over the past month or so. What could be the reason? Obviously, people have not stopped eating marshmallows. Instead, the possible reason could be someone else from the competition is making a dent into your market.

Well, the difference? This competitor either ranks better with Google and other search engines, or he gets more foot-fall on his site through more links than you have.

Well, what is the secret? The secret to better search engine ranking is more keyword density or more back links. The competitor suddenly has not done anything to get these amazing results.

He has been doing it for some time now, only you have realized it now. In all probability, he has been writing or getting written, keyword rich articles for his website and submitting them to article directories. People and affiliate sites selling marshmallows have been devouring these articles as free content along with the competitor's resource box and flocking to his online store instead of yours.

In short, the article directories and submissions have given him more exposure and better status in the marshmallow industry than you. Well, you have been caught napping.

Internet marketing is an ever changing scenario and being caught napping is not a good practice. Articles and submission to article directories have been proven to bring results both ways, to the writers and the readers. The writers, by enhancing their expert stature and bring more links to their site and the users by giving them fresh content regularly on a periodic basis and thus attracting more and more traffic by the day, new and revisits, both.

It is not necessary that you write articles to retain customers. You can always get them written or source them from various sources on the internet. You can get them tailored to your needs and just submit them to article directories. Do not expect overnight results, but results over a short period of time are sure to show.

Ask any webmaster that you might know, he will be in a better position to explain the process of search engine optimization by the use of articles.

Use article directories, by submitting or sourcing your content from there. You are not far from the success.

You may come across sites that offer free content on the internet. These are directories that have articles written by experts in various fields. They are normally classified and offer good quality content. You can use the content from article directories on your website, but keeping them intact along with the resource box that may have a link to the site of the author. The only hitch is that you are having some other expert's article on your site with a link that may drive your customers to them.

Using the article directory, the other way round is more profitable. You should submit batches of articles in your field of expertise on these directories and let customers come to you through others websites that may use your articles for content.

Using article directories either way, is always profitable depending on your field of expertise and business plan.

Life Insurance Quotes

Honestly, everyone needs to have Term Life Insurance, because unfortunately, people die. I lost a daughter in 1998, and we did not have life insurance, and had to borrow money to pay all the costs associated with having a funeral.

With all the different companies that offer life insurance, how do you know who has the best low cost life insurance? Well I have come across a great site that has you fill in your information, and they can give you quotes for several different life insurance providers.

Essentially, you only need to go to one website from the comfort of your home to get online insurance rates.

How to Sell Effectively on eBay - Top 10 Tips

How to Sell Effectively on eBay - Top 10 Tips

How to Sell Effectively on eBay - Top 10 Tips by William King

Online auction is scorching the virtual world. More and more people are finding the virtual world a convenient way to sell as well as purchase goods. Many of them use online auction sites such as eBay to get their product’s worth.

Auction sites such as eBay also house a myriad of products and it is very easy for one’s product to get lost in the crowd. One can follow certain tips that will aid in effective selling

1) Familiarize yourself with the site: It is important to familiarize yourself with the site. You can just navigate within the site to get a feel of it. Visit the site’s help section. They have a special space dedicated to sellers- http://pages.eBay.in/help/sell/index.html. This will not only give you the confidence to go ahead but will also make you aware of the pitfalls and the dangers as well as the things you are supposed to do and things you are supposed to avoid.

2) Pay attention to the appearance: Appearance matters. Imagine yourself in the shoes of the buyer. This will give you a better idea of how things should be done. The appearance of the text should be neat. Select fonts that are normally seen on a website. Try not to select fancy fonts. Try to highlight important matters and points in a tasteful manner. Remember the appearance can make or break your sale. No one would buy an item that is presented in a shabby manner. An untidy appearance also creates a negative impression of the seller.

3) Title: eBay requires the seller to give a title and a short description of the product. Be sure that the language used is simple and free from grammatical mistakes. One should bear in mind that eBay attracts all kinds of visitors. Hence the description should be such that it is understandable to everybody. Similarly, the title should be short, yet informative. A reader should be able to make out about the item after reading the title.

4) Picture: ‘Picture speaks a thousand words’ is an oft-repeated phrase. Be sure to include a descriptive picture. A picture lets the prospective buyer to get a feel of the product. The buyer gets a good idea about the item that is being offered for sale. Imagine a wall unit being offered for sale, but there is no picture of it. Will you prefer buying it? Most of us will say ‘No!’ Remember to get a nice picture of the item that you wish to get listed on eBay. The picture should be clean, focused and taken in lighted conditions. Hazy, unfocussed and dimly lit pictures are a strict no.

5) Show it, don’t tell: If you are selling used items; make sure that you give a good description about the condition of the product. Do not use ambiguous sentences such as ‘almost new’, ‘a bit damaged’ etc. If it is damaged a bit, then tell it in concrete sentences. For e.g., scratches on the rear part, scrapped from the left corner etc. This will give the prospective buyer an idea of the extent of the damage. It will also increase his confidence in you and will help you to sell the product more effectively.

6) Be clear about the accessories: If the product you are selling comes with certain accessories, make sure that you mention whether you are offering the accessories or not. Do not keep the buyer in the dark. Doing so will give a bad name to you. For e.g., if a certain mobile phone offers accessory like head set when purchased from a seller, and if you are selling the same model as a second – hand, be sure to mention whether or not you are offering the head set. This is a great way to arouse buyer confidence that will go a long way in selling the product. Furthermore if the product you are selling does not include accessories, then try to add some to it. People are always willing to pay a bit more for added value. For e.g. if you are selling a chess board then adding a chess board stand can dramatically increase your profits and chances of selling. Its all about staying ahead of your competition and this technique alone can really help you to beat all the competition out there.

7) Be specific: Include details such as guarantee policy, return and exchange policy, shipping details, in straight and clear terms. The prospective buyer should not have any confusion. Remember that eBay has a system wherein buyers leave a feedback. A positive feedback will help you to sell other products effectively on eBay.

8) Time the listings: eBay requires the sellers to list the timings for the opening and the closing of the bid. One must be careful of the timing of the listings. It is no use if you time the listings such that the target market is not awake. For e.g. if you the target buyers for your product are located in USA, one must time in such a way that the maximum number of Americans are on the Internet during that time. Also remember, most of the bids are placed on the last day and more importantly at the last hour. Keep this factor in mind before deciding upon the timings or else you will lose out on good or high bidders. There have been many studies and a lot of research has been done in determining the best timings for your listing. Whatever you decide just make sure that you end up your listing during busy hour which normally is between 7:00pm to 11:00pm

9) Flexibility in receiving payment: Make sure that you have specified your preferable mode of receiving the payment. eBay offers a lot of options. Be flexible. If you keep on insisting on PayPal, you might lose a highest bidder who can make payment only through a check or money order. Keeping your options open will certainly help you maximize your profits.

10) Be agile: Be quick and agile while delivering the goods. Since the buyers can leave a feedback, a laxity shown by you in the final stages can hurt your credibility and might force the buyer to give a negative feedback. Also pack the item carefully. Nobody is going to accept a damaged product. It will be a waste of the buyer’s as well as your time and efforts. Do remember that someone who has purchased from you in the past and had a great buying experience is more than likely to purchase from you again, therefore providing a timely delivery and a well packaged product would most definitely result in many repetitive customers.

These are some of the main points you should keep in mind if you have to carry out a successful sale on eBay and maximize your profits.
